It Started With a Coupe

My first car was a 1948 Chevrolet 2-door coupe. My mom and I made the headliner for it from a green wool military blanket. My 2nd car was a 1953 Ford Victoria. I bought it with my babysitting money. I took the flat head engine out and pulled it on a wooden crawler, 2 blocks to a rebuild shop. The man at the counter asked me where I came from and I told him I pulled the engine 2 blocks. I told him I wanted it rebuilt. I pulled out a little over $250. He said they would do it. Three or 4 days later his company showed up at my house with a truck and boom and lowered the engine in my car. I was ecstatic. I never forgot that day. I was 18. One year later I sold my car and joined the Navy. I now own a 1964 Ford Thunderbird and a 1928 Ford Model A roadster. I have always loved old cars.
