Hi, George. No, it doesn’t need to be baked on. According to the manufacturer, it can be sprayed, wiped or dipped onto the exhaust manifolds/headers and exhaust components to reduce radiant heat by over 90 percent and increase horsepower by 2 percent. Although I am not convinced this product is in full production yet, as there is limited information available, regarding application. When that changes, we’ll certainly update this post.

Is this a liquid, applied by brush? My headers have been ceramic coated, what other parts, areas of my 1974 Corvette would benefit from this coating?

A relatively new product to the market, this coating can be sprayed or brushed on. Of course coating your headers is an important step in controlling heat within the engine compartment. This coating in particular is designed for exhaust systems, and there is likely some performance gains to be had from insulating exhaust components further back than the headers, the greater benefit may be in reducing the amount of heat that is transferred to the passenger compartment.

Probably not available in Australia, yet, but I am still interested in reading about the technology!
