Mustang Coupe

Pat Hazel

My wife (Kim) and I, had been searching for a clean Mustang hobby car for some time; because of limitations on time and space I didn’t want a big project but rather a clean drivable car, we could make some updates on as needed. After driving countless miles across the Midwest looking at cars that never seemed to measure up to what we were looking for, we finally discovered this nice little coupe only a few miles from home.

It was a California Car and was remarkably rust free. Even the underside still sported all of its factory red primer. The original 289ci engine still ran strong and the factory automatic shifted smoothly through the gears. Since purchasing the car we have attended countless car shows and cruise events, and during the summer there is seldom a weekend where this little pony doesn’t get rode.

Other than routine maintenance, we’ve only made a few improvements to the car. A new Ididit steering column was installed, to add tilt steering and make it easier for my wife to drive, and more recently the exhaust system was upgraded to a Magnaflow full stainless system including long-tube headers.

Your story and situation is mine as well. Having limited space, money, and time for a restoration project I have been searching for a turn key ride that I can still add my own touches to. Happy for your find. I might have found mine recently as well. Living the dreams ADAM
