1978 MGB

Here is my 1978 mg MGB British sports car that I have highly modified. This is a lovely automobile that is exceptionally fun to drive and a pleasure to work on.

The engine is all stage 2 racing spec, bored and balanced, 11:1 compression, with a cross-flow head, dual Weber DCOE 45 carburetors, a cold air intake system with dual K&N conical filters, a high lift / long dwell street-racing camshaft, a DUI integrated coil-distributor tuned by Performance Distributors to my camshaft specs, Live Wires low-resistance ignition wiring, racing plugs gapped at .055″, all racing spec engine internals tested at 190,000 PSI, dual-chain timing, vernier balancing, tuned air dam, major heat reduction systems, exhaust manifold cooling system, tuned exhaust system, and much more.

The transmission has been converted to a 4-speed overdrive unit.

The interior includes all new plush carpeting, custom upholstery, custom door panels, real Rosewood dash applique and door cappings, extensive additional electrical components, as well as an 8-speaker surround sound Bluetooth system.

The trunk has also been carpeted and the tool and detailing bags are color matched to the rest of the car.

It has been repainted Torch Red with four base coats and two clear coats. The front and rear bumpers, originally black, have been painted to match the rest of the automobile.

The suspension has been lowered 2″ to get it back to the original height of an MGB when they first came out in 1962. It has an all Prothane brand, polyurethane set of bushings and pads for the suspension system.

Other classic car restorations I’ve done include a 1968 Mustang, a NOS 1950 Ford, a mildly-modified 1950 Ford, a moderately- modified 1950 Ford, and minor modifications to a 1970 MGB. I’m starting a 1973 MGB restoration soon.

I have a 66 MGB and it's restored to stock original condition but would love to get power to where yours is, could you please share more details about what have you done to the engine and where yogurt the parts from, I'd really appreciate it.

Very nice, do you have any idea how much power you have? I've got a 19151 Ford 2dr. Custom Delux with a stock rebuilt '53 Mercury motor. Too bad we are so far away I would like to get to meet with you. I live in Georgia.

Very nice job Barry, and on such a "late model" B. I used to have a business in the UK. We restored, serviced, raced "B's" and race prepped for other customers back in the 80's. We converted an 79 rubber bumper into a chrome bumper for a customer and did what you did and lowered it. I used to win so many concur, that they banned it - because it was a conversion. I love what you did with the B. Great to see. Enjoy a fun car.

I join one of these last year. Once I said I had a 1980 MGB, and Several air cooled VW’s they were always picking on me about them cars. I also have a 78 Firebird and 74 pickup & 1979 Trike I’m in a wheelchair 100% of the time so the Bird &Pickup is to large for me to wrench on, so the Bird is looking for a new Bird House very soon, motor been blue&local place that’s gone now off old 131 north just before new 131 street to the East starts out tar 2 - 90* curves then to gravel & then I have lost my memory from treatments of MS. 2009 Car Motor Was done 2003 Screen and Tube for oil pump slip off for the last time I can’t wrench any more on her. 😥 so Screen is flat on bottom of pan. Anyone knows about the bird and so much extra power it is known to shake enough for the pipe to slide out. Very Bad Habit Some Have Don't Tell Me what I Should Done to it But Young and Hurried & only 3,000 miles on new rebuilt
