Powermaster Performance introduces the new Vintage Torque starter for Ford Flathead engines. The Vintage Torque keeps the appearance of a stock Flathead starter and uses a powerful, lightweight permanent magnet starter motor with low amperage draw. At less than 50% the weight of a stock Flathead starter, the Vintage Torque delivers 75% more cranking power.
With a 1.5kw motor, and 4.4:1 gear ratio, the Vintage Torque provides up to 160 ft lbs of cranking torque for better starting. Ball bearings provide longer, more reliable use than factory style bushings. Available with a ratchet type drive for longevity on high compression engines.
please send a video on replacing a starter on a 1967 ford mustang. Thanks
Hi Rick. We have done some starter replacements but so far none on a 1967 Mustang … or at least on video. The process is straightforward. Start by disconnecting the negative battery cable, then jack up the car and position jack stands to ensure your safety. Then disconnect the battery cable at the starter and remove the two bolts holding on the starter. Remove and replace the starter using this same process in reverse.
Most service manuals also cover starter replacement.

Is this starter the same for a Lincoln V12? and what is the price? is it available in 6 or 12 volt?
Hi, Bill. Lincoln’s and Ford’s used FoMoCo Starters, and for most years the Ford Starters are the same, even between the Flathead V8 and Flathead V12. With that said it is important to know the year of your car/engine, as the late ’47-’48 starter had a longer armature to accommodate the 5EH-11350 drive but the starter itself is the same as the Ford.
